2009 is the 35th Anniversary of GAY LUTHERAN History
The world has changed vastly since 1974, and not the least the church itself in relationship to the LGBT/Christian movement.
On June 17, 1974, a new nationwide organization was formed that called itself Lutherans Concerned for Gay People, with the help of a $2,000 grant from the Division for Service and Mission of the former American Lutheran Church. Two coordinators, Diane Fraser of Minnesota and Allen Blaich of Salt Lake City, Utah, were elected, and Issue No. 1 of The Gay Lutheran was published by Editor Howard Erickson, dated July-August 1974.
The Los Angeles Chapter has received a complete set of these early newsletters from Howard Erickson, who lives in the Los Angeles area. All issues are being scanned and made available on this site in PDF format.
